Weight Loss and life

I used to say that I did not have to worry about work clothes after graduation, because I have finally built up an extensive wardrobe, thank you Syracuse, NY. However I am on some new medication to help with some of the problems that I have been having and have now lost weight. Now I know I have been talking about losing weight for a while, ok years, but I never thought I would drop down past what I am now. In some aspects it is nice, in others not so much.
The nice aspect is because now I am starting to feel healthier, look better and in general my mood is much better. However the other aspect is not so nice.
The bad side is now a lot of my pants do not fit me. I realized this the other day with some black pants of mine that were loose when I bought them, but now I cannot even get them to stay on my waist. So they are going to GoodWill. Now I have this really cute pair of chocolate brown work pants. I LOVE them. They not only look really good on me, they are also incredibly comfortable to wear. So now they are too big. Falling off my behind big. Ho Hum. I really do not want to give these up, I might just have to find a dry cleaner that can take them in.
Is it sad that I have lived in this city for over a year and a half and still haven't found a dry cleaner to take my stuff too? Ha ha. I know. But I have barely found a place that does waxing, for my eyebrows, that is cheap and does a good job.
So I am graduating in less than 5 weeks. I am excited, except the rejection letters have started coming in now. Which makes me sad. A couple of the jobs I did not really want but applied for because I knew my mother would love it if I moved near her.
However I was really stressing over this one job, for the National Library of Medicine, I would get a fellowship and continue my studies in being a leader in the community. I did receive word yesterday that I did not get the job. I am really sad about it, but at the same time, I really did not get my hopes up. My essays were not as strong as they could be, and I most likely have not accomplished enough for them. Most of the award winners did not go to the best ALA schools, however they have accomplished quite a bit in their community and also in their jobs and schools. However I have not. And its ok. For a very long time my goal in life was to remain invisible. And on some aspects that has worked. However I am ready for a change and I want the whole world to know who I am now!!!!
Well with the exception of this blog. I am still not ready for being completely known in the community. I am on many social networking sites, but some things I still like to blog about without the entire world knowing everything.
Although the world can know that I am receiving a Master's of Science in Library and Information Science on May 9th of 2009. I am so excited to finally be done with one of my Master's.
Yes I did say only one. I am also working toward obtaining my Master's in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. It is a relatively small Christian college about 30 miles northeast of Los Angeles. I obtained my Bachelor's of Arts in Social Science from there. I guess I should give more of a bio on me? I never really thought you could concentrate within that major but I have since realized that I did my concentration on the American West and Manifest Destiny in the 19th century. So in other words I do know a pretty big chunk on a little piece of history. It is also my dream, and I doubt it will come true, to obtain a PhD in myths and legends focusing in on Merlin from somewhere. Preferably Oxford but who knows. I highly doubt I will do the PhD. Mostly because I would like to not be a student forever, and it certainly feels as though I will be at this point in time.
I am currently looking for a full time library job anywhere in the world. Yes I did say anywhere in the world. Since I am currently single, and still very young I have plenty of time to travel and figure out where I want to live for a long period of time.
I have a tendency to like to wander and not settle. This may explain why I randomly take off at the weirdest times and go hiking in places people have not heard of. Yes I think its odd too. But thats ok because I a lot of really good friends who love me no matter what. I think that is all for now. I may tell you more about myself later. :) Have a good day!

Just when you think life....

So just when I thought life couldn't get any worse I was proven wrong last night. My car had trouble starting after getting gas on Sunday, and then also on Monday when roommate number 1 and I were leaving the grocery store, it was also acting up. However yesterday it died. Literally.
I was at a relatively busy intersection coming home from getting food at a fast food restaurant, I know its horrible! And it sputtered and died. GGRRR. Then I have paid for AAA for a year, including towing for 100 miles, although only one tow. I have had the service for a month, maybe and still haven't recieved my AAA card. So yesterday they are asking me for my number and of course I cant give it to them, because they haven't sent it to me yet! GGGRRR!!!!!!!!!
So they tell me they will put it in as an emergency, 45 minutes later the guy FINALLY shows up! I have it towed to Hyundai dealership across town because the one next to me I really don't like. They have been nicer so far. It will cost me around $700 for the stuff they need to fix. Timing belt, starter something or other and they really want to do the 60,000 mile checkup. That last one is going to cost $300. So because I don't have a grand lying around somewhere, and who really does in this day and age, I am skipping the checkup for now. I will get that one done next month I guess.
Was trying to give the mommy person money every month for the damn car. Told her today I can't give her anymore money. Like for a really long time. That and had to call my credit card company and beg for a better limit so I can pay for this. I have the cash, but I really didnt feel like liquidating my assets all at once.
Oh and the bright side to all of this? My alarm system is being taken away. Nevermind that the dealership I bought my car from installed it, because it did not come with the car its an after-market system and therefore killed my starter. GGGRRR. Oh and even better news? Yes I am being sarcastic in case you didn't notice! Last October I was offered the chance to get an extended warranty on the car for about a grand. It would have covered until 100,000. Everything that is being fixed on my car would have been covered. Stupid me! Now I have to pay for all this. That and the towing. I always had unlimited towing with warranty. Now I have used my one and only towing for the year right after I bought the membership. Gotta love life!!!

My snow covered life.

Wow that title sounds kinda emo right? LOL oh well. My life is snow covered. We have enjoyed several bitterly cold days with the snow on all sides of us and now are about to be dumped on again. I have settled into a routine of bundling up within an inch of my life, all the while trying to placate my mother and telling her of course I am wearing enough clothing. 3,000 miles away and she still worries whether or not I have enough on to ward off the cold. Makes me laugh, however also lets me know in her own way she loves me that much.
So I fretted and fretted about getting three job offers, well they didn't offer me a position at the public library. So I am SO happy about that. Starting to feel pretty good about working at Simmons and soon the internship. I am very scared about actually doing this internship, but the money wouldnt be so bad and it would make my resume look a little heaftier. I am now currently struggling as to whether or not to put it on my resume for a job that I am applying for. I start the internship on the 4th of February, and the application for the job ends on the 20th. So if I squeeze in one week of work I could have an idea as to what I have to do, and then put it on my resume? Or should I just go ahead and leave it off? That and this job requires an essay for why I want the job. I never know what to write on stupid essays. What do they want me to say? The truth is I want to help people. I have spent the year and half in grad school and still have no real idea where I want to end up. Preferably not on the West Coast. Preferably in a public library, but it doesnt matter. As long as I can help make their lives better. I used to say I wanted to change the world, but then I realized I am not the person who gets to decide if your life is good or bad. That is not my decision....I guess that is all I have to write...

A New Year, A New Start...Sure

Well I guess I should have written this yesterday as it was the first day of a new year, however ha ha like that was going to happen. So this year I made a decision not to make any new years resolutions that I could not keep. How many people every year make resolutions for new years and don't keep them? Well not me. This year I have made only two:
-To look in the mirror at least once a day and tell myself that I am pretty.
-To gear work-outs not so I can get into that great pair of jeans, but so that I can walk up a flight of stairs and not be out of breath.
I am under the firm impression that if you talk about your resolutions, you will have more of a chance of sticking to them.

On another note, the rest of life seems to be going pretty well. My last semester of grad school at Orange University is about to begin, and in about 4 months I will have a degree. A degree that says I am trained in the library world. Scary thought, but one must move on. :)
Well as I have never really blogged before I think that is all for today. Toodles!
